The Colony is thriving.

Just one week after launch, Gothic 1 Remake has already surpassed 500,000 copies sold across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, marking a strong start for the long-awaited revival of the classic RPG.

Players have wasted no time returning to the Valley of Mines. On June 7, the remake hit nearly 78,000 concurrent players on Steam, while more than 15,000 user reviews have helped secure an impressive 85% “Very Positive” rating on the platform.

Developer Alkimia Interactive and publisher THQ Nordic thanked both newcomers and longtime fans for the warm reception, giving special recognition to the dedicated Gothic community that has supported the franchise for the past 25 years.

For those unfamiliar with the adventure, Gothic 1 Remake retells the story of the Nameless Hero, a prisoner thrown into the dangerous Colony after a magical barrier spirals out of control. Players must survive a brutal world filled with rival factions, deadly creatures, and ancient mysteries while shaping their own path through the story.

Built from the ground up with modern technology, the remake stays faithful to the 2001 original while introducing enhanced visuals, a modernized combat system, a dynamic living world, and more than 50 hours of exploration and adventure.

And this is only the beginning. Alkimia Interactive says it will continue supporting and improving the game in the weeks and months ahead.

Gothic 1 Remake is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
