Hamilton is returning to the big screen this fall as Disney re-releases the filmed Broadway production to celebrate the show’s 10th anniversary. Starting September 5, 2025, the original cast performance will hit theaters in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand on staggered dates.

The version screening is the same one filmed in June 2016 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, featuring Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., Daveed Diggs, Phillipa Soo, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Jonathan Groff. Directed by Thomas Kail, it’s the very performance that premiered on Disney+ in 2020 after a planned 2021 theatrical release was canceled due to the pandemic.

While fans have been able to stream Hamilton for years, this re-release offers the chance to experience the production with big-screen visuals, powerful sound, and a theater full of fellow fans. Major chains like AMC, Regal, and Cinemark already have pre-sale tickets available, and some are speculating screenings could evolve into singalong-style events.

There’s no new footage or bonus content, and the film maintains the PG-13 edits from its streaming version. Still, the energy of seeing Hamilton in a communal setting might be reason enough for fans to grab their tickets — and be in “the room where it happens” once more.
