As climate change continues to reshape communities around the globe, HBO is bringing one of the century’s most urgent stories to the screen. The Welcome Table, a new HBO Original documentary from Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmaker Josh Fox (Gasland), premieres June 23 on HBO and HBO Max.
The documentary follows climate migrants across six continents, capturing the lives of people forced to leave their homes due to rising seas, extreme weather, drought, and environmental disruption. From the United States and the Caribbean to Kenya, Peru, Brazil, Italy, and Australia, Fox spotlights the resilience of families and communities navigating an uncertain future.
At its heart, The Welcome Table asks a simple but powerful question: How do we welcome those displaced by a changing planet? Through deeply personal stories, the film explores the growing reality of climate displacement while challenging audiences to imagine a more compassionate response.
The journey culminates in New Orleans with a remarkable celebration featuring a 1,000-foot communal table and live performances from legendary local musicians, including John Boutté. It’s a moving symbol of connection, hope, and collective action in the face of a global crisis.
The Welcome Table premieres Tuesday, June 23, from 9:00–11:15 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and streams on HBO Max.
