NCSOFT kicked off G-Star 2025 with a major surprise — the reveal of Horizon Steel Frontiers, a new global MMORPG set in the acclaimed Horizon universe. Developed in collaboration with Guerrilla, the studio behind Horizon and Killzone under Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), this marks the franchise’s first venture into large-scale online multiplayer gaming.
Set in the perilous Deadlands, home to the legendary machine hunters, Horizon Steel Frontiers expands upon Horizon’s signature hunting-action gameplay while integrating advanced MMORPG systems, offering deep combat customization and vast player freedom. The project aims to deliver a truly distinct Horizon experience across the globe.
The official website has launched, featuring the debut trailer and developer interviews. The trailer showcases breathtaking landscapes, mechanical beasts, and massive cooperative battles. In the accompanying commentary, Jan-Bart Van Beek, Studio Director and Art Director at Guerrilla, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration. Taekjin Kim, NCSOFT CEO & CCO, and Sunggu Lee, Executive Producer, shared insights into their vision and inspiration behind the project.
Horizon Steel Frontiers will be cross-platform, playable on mobile and PC via NCSOFT’s PURPLE platform. More details, including gameplay features and release information, will be revealed through the official channels in the coming months.
