GRÓA, the Icelandic post-punk group known for their bold sonic experiments, is making waves once again with their latest single “Cranberry,” released through the US label FOUND. This track exemplifies their distinctive style, blending distorted guitars and snappy drums with a range of vocal techniques, from whispered harmonies to powerful shouts. According to the band, “Cranberry” evokes a mix of intensity and tenderness, likening it to a bull emitting smoke in both anger and care.

Formed in Reykjavík, GRÓA comprises sisters Karólína Einars Maríudóttir (Karó) on vocals, guitar, and keys, and Hrafnhildur Einars Maríudóttir (Hrabba) on drums and vocals, alongside Fríða Björg Pétursdóttir on bass and vocals. Their musical style merges elements of post-punk, noise-rock, and art-pop, creating a dynamic and boundary-pushing sound that defies conventions. Describing their approach as experimental and rule-free, GRÓA aims to keep rock music engaging and fresh for themselves and their listeners.

Renowned for their electrifying live performances, GRÓA has garnered acclaim from international outlets and festivals like KEXP and Iceland Airwaves. Their shows are celebrated for their communal energy and improvisational spirit, inviting audiences to immerse themselves fully in the music. Recently, the band reissued their previous albums on vinyl and CD, showcasing their evolution and growth since their debut in 2018.

Looking ahead, GRÓA is set to captivate audiences once more with upcoming releases, promising more of their signature creativity and fearless exploration. With their commitment to breaking musical boundaries and embracing new possibilities, GRÓA continues to push the envelope in a world hungry for innovation.
