Instacart has officially launched the first-ever end-to-end grocery shopping app inside OpenAI’s ChatGPT, marking a major milestone in AI-powered commerce. The new integration lets users move effortlessly from meal inspiration to Instant Checkout—all within a single ChatGPT conversation.
By tapping into Instacart’s real-time retail network and OpenAI’s frontier models, the experience can suggest ingredients, build a tailored cart, and complete checkout without switching apps. “Together, we’re creating a seamless and secure way for people to turn simple conversations into real-world action,” said Anirban Kundu, Instacart CTO.
Nick Turley, VP and Head of ChatGPT, added that the partnership brings the vision of conversational shopping to life: plan a recipe, review your cart, and check out—all in one thread.

The Instacart ChatGPT app is now available on desktop and mobile web, with Instant Checkout rolling out to iOS and Android in the coming weeks. Powered by Stripe through the Agentic Commerce Protocol, the new flow supports secure credit card payments, with digital wallets coming soon.
Instacart’s unmatched grocery infrastructure—covering 1,800+ retailers, nearly 100,000 stores, and real-time inventory—gives AI agents the accuracy and reliability needed for grocery decisions. Personalized recommendations, trusted fulfillment, and delivery as fast as 30 minutes make the experience both intuitive and practical.
As AI-driven shopping accelerates, Instacart’s integrations and data expertise position it at the forefront of the next generation of digital grocery experiences.
