Nashville’s favorite alt-folk duo, Judah & the Lion, have just dropped “Body & Soul,” the second track from the deluxe edition of their album The Process, set for release on September 5. This touching song explores deep themes of existential reflection, delving into the intricate relationship between our physical and emotional selves.
The band shared their thoughts on the release: “‘Body & Soul’ tackles the search for meaning, questioning our place in the universe and the significance of existence. It reflects on the importance of practicing patience and acceptance, highlighting how this union can unlock the power of the body and soul.”
The Process is deeply personal, drawing from lead singer Judah Akers’ experiences and struggles. It mirrors Elisabeth Kübler-Ross’ five stages of grief—Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance. With interludes punctuating each stage, the album offers a profoundly introspective and cathartic musical journey.
Judah & the Lion have also announced The Process Tour, which kicks off on October 4 at The Tulsa Theater in Tulsa. The 17-city tour will hit major stops like Denver, Boston, and Philadelphia before wrapping up in their hometown at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium on October 26.
Since their debut EP in 2012, Judah & the Lion have garnered widespread acclaim for their genre-bending music. They’ve earned Platinum/Gold certifications, amassed over a billion streams, and sold over 500 million tickets. Six of their singles have hit the Top 15 on Alternative radio, and they won an iHeart Music Award for Best New Alt Rock Band in 2018. The Process follows 2022’s Revival, which The Tennessean praised for its synths, catchy mandolin licks, and powerful vocals, elevating it beyond a typical indie-alternative pop album.
