Cryogeyser, composed of Shawn Marom on guitar and vocals, Zach CapittiFenton on drums, and Samson Klitsner on bass, has just released their latest single, “Sorry.” Produced by CapittiFenton, this track marks a departure into grittier, noisier sonic landscapes while preserving the band’s signature soaring, blissful melodies. This release is significant as it is Cryogeyser’s first self-produced effort since their 2019 debut LP, Glitch, which was produced by former member Jeremy McLennan. “Sorry” also debuts CapittiFenton and Klitsner as full-fledged members of the band.
Accompanying the single is a visually captivating video directed by Jaxon Whittington. The enhanced production quality in “Sorry” highlights the band’s evolving sound, setting the stage for more new music in the near future. Fans can look forward to experiencing this evolution live at Cryogeyser’s single release party and show in Los Angeles on July 26th.
“’Sorry’ is the song that plays at the pool party your ex is at. The rage and discomfort become an internal war, asking yourself, ‘Did I do the best I could? Could I have done it differently?’” explains Marom. “‘Sorry’ is about not being sorry. It’s a tongue in cheek homage to the intricacies of relationships and communication, especially in conflict. ‘Sorry’ reminds you to be yourself, forgive yourself, and embrace yourself. Welcome change but never change. It also touches on the expectations we put on others, ourselves, and our artistic practices. Wondering if the failure or rejection could ever be avoided. If we knew then, what we know now, things would be much different than this.”
Since their emergence with Glitch, Cryogeyser has been making waves in the indie music scene. They’ve shared stages with well-known acts such as Wednesday, Horse Jumper of Love, Squirrel Flower, Citizen, Narrow Head, and Pond. With three full-length albums under their belt, including their latest double/deluxe release timetetheredtogether/Love Is Land, Cryogeyser has cultivated a dedicated fanbase. Their music has resonated widely, amassing 132.6k monthly listeners on Spotify, with standout tracks like “Leach,” “Angry,” and “Thin” achieving millions of streams.
“Sorry” follows a successful headlining show at Brooklyn, NY’s Elsewhere (Rooftop) in June, signaling a promising new chapter for Cryogeyser. The band’s continued growth and evolving sound make them a group to watch closely in the indie music scene.
