Your next game of pool might be happening on the couch.
LG is bringing 8 Ball Pool to its Smart TVs, marking the first time the hugely popular Miniclip game has officially landed on the big screen. The game is free to play on LG Smart TVs and monitors running webOS 6.0 or later in 165 countries.
And this isn’t simply a mobile game blown up for your television.
LG and Miniclip have added a new Couch Play Mode, letting two people play head-to-head on the same TV. Players can aim, adjust shot power and break using the LG Magic Remote, making the whole thing feel more like a casual living-room game night.
There’s plenty of room to play, too. On LG’s 100-inch-plus displays, the virtual pool table can approach life-size scale.
The launch is also part of LG’s bigger push into free-to-play TV gaming. The company’s web-based gaming library has grown to more than 1,000 titles, tripling over the past two years. LG says gaming usage has increased 67% year over year, while total hours played are up 71% and individual gaming sessions have increased 50%.
8 Ball Pool is available through LG Apps and the LG Gaming Portal, with special rewards and LG-exclusive items also available.
So grab the Magic Remote, call your opponent over to the couch, and try not to scratch on the break.
