New York City’s own Americana shapeshifters, The Wonder Licks, are back with “Beatitudes,” the first single from their forthcoming album Simping for Big Toilet (out in 2026). Known for their raw energy and kaleidoscopic sound, the band delivers something both grounded and transcendent — a song that feels like a conversation with the cosmos.

Equal parts prayer and protest, “Beatitudes” follows a wanderer teetering on the edge, weary from chasing goodness in a world that won’t sit still. Wistful guitars shimmer over an unstoppable rhythm section, anchoring frontman Jacob Wunderlich’s plaintive vocals. “The song is a reflection on faith and futility,” Wunderlich says. “It’s like a hymn for people who still want to believe in something, even after the lights have gone out.”

With “Beatitudes,”The Wonder Licks light the fuse once more — soulful, searching, and defiantly alive.
