Midlake return with “The Calling”, a driving and anthemic new single from their eagerly awaited sixth studio album, A Bridge To Far, arriving November 7 via Midlake Records/Believe. Produced by Sam Evian (Big Thief, Cass McCombs) at The Echo Lab in the band’s Denton, TX hometown, the record features guest vocals from Madison Cunningham, Hannah Cohen, and Meg Lui.
Following previous singles “The Ghouls” and “Days Gone By,” “The Calling” showcases Midlake’s signature cinematic sound, powered by soaring horns and a propulsive rhythm. “Lyrically, the song has to do with my own struggle with applying myself towards a given effort; denying or embracing that which we were made to do,” says frontman Eric Pulido.
An official music video for “The Calling” is streaming now on YouTube, following the spellbinding clip for “Days Gone By,” directed by Taylor McFadden and produced by Lavinia Jones Wright, featuring Emmy-nominated actor James Lance (Ted Lasso).
A Bridge To Far marks Midlake’s first new collection in over three years, a reflective and hopeful meditation on persistence, humility, and creative renewal. “This album is less about referencing someone else’s sound and more about sounding like us,” Pulido explains. “We’re still here—and grateful for that and so much more.”
Pre-save or pre-order A Bridge To Far now and stream “The Calling” everywhere.
