My Morning Jacket are turning music into action. The band has released Peacelands, a 14-track acoustic collection created in solidarity with the people of Minneapolis and others impacted by injustice. Available now on Bandcamp, the album channels themes of peace, compassion, and human dignity—values the band says feel more urgent than ever.
Recorded at EastWest Studios in Hollywood with six-time GRAMMY winner Shawn Everett, Peacelands features stripped-down takes on My Morning Jacket and Jim James favorites like “I’m Amazed” and “Here In Spirit.” The set also includes powerful covers of Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ In The Wind,” The Velvet Underground’s “I Found A Reason,” and Brian Wilson’s “Love and Mercy,” underscoring the project’s message of unity and reflection.
All proceeds benefit the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Doctors Without Borders, and the International Rescue Committee—organizations working across civil rights, humanitarian aid, and global relief.
The album’s title comes from Louisville artist Mark Anthony Mulligan, who imagined “Peacelands” as a place built on friendship, equality, and listening across differences. Jim James says that vision still feels possible if people choose empathy, forgiveness, and peaceful paths forward.
For a band long celebrated for expansive, soul-searching rock, Peacelands continues My Morning Jacket’s tradition of using music as a force for connection—offering not just songs, but support for real-world change.
