Capcom has officially set the date fans have been waiting for. During PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast, the publisher announced that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will launch on September 25, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Even better, players can jump into the action right now with a free demo available today.

The newly released trailer offers a deeper look at Mount Oe, a dangerous new area outside Kyoto dominated by a massive Genma claiming to be the legendary Shuten Doji. As swordsman Miyamoto Musashi cuts through enemy ranks, players get a taste of the supernatural abilities that define the latest chapter in the beloved franchise. The trailer’s standout moment comes when Musashi unleashes his full potential and awakens as an Oni Warrior.

The demo gives fans their first hands-on experience with the game’s fast-paced combat. Players can explore the historic Kiyomizu-dera Temple and face off against Musashi’s rival, Sasaki Ganryu. Those who try the demo will also receive the exclusive “Kubi Akari” charm when the full game launches.

Pre-orders are now live, with early buyers receiving the “Sealed Curse” sword skin and “Lion Dog” charm. Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions add extra cosmetics, bonus content, and a digital soundtrack.

Mark your calendars—after a 20-year wait, Onimusha is finally making its long-awaited return in style.
