Nashville songwriter Scott Collins follows his January album Bravery is Necessary with a new single, “Extinguish the Flame,” a raw and reflective piece born from deep personal change.

This year brought the closing of a chapter in Collins’ life—his marriage and long-standing musical partnership with Kim Collins. Rather than retreat from the pain, he has turned to music as a vessel for processing, release, and renewal.

“Extinguish the Flame” is more than a breakup song. It is a meditation on reckoning and reconciliation, a recognition that endings can also carry profound lessons. Collins challenges the twin flame myth, which he describes as a limiting belief that diminishes the sovereignty of one’s own soul light. He suggests that while certain relationships act as sacred mirrors, our truest fire burns from within, not from outside ourselves.

The timing of the single is no coincidence. Released alongside the full moon lunar eclipse in Pisces on September 7, 2025, and Saturn’s retrograde at the final degree of Pisces, the song channels cosmic themes of closure, karmic contracts, and letting go. For Collins, these alignments mirror his own journey through loss, reflection, and eventual release.

With honesty and vulnerability, “Extinguish the Flame” offers listeners a chance to reflect on their own passages of transformation. It is both personal and universal: a song about endings, but also about reclaiming inner light and beginning anew.

“Extinguish the Flame” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
