Montreal-based artist Skiifall shares a new single, “Left The Trenches,” an intimate, autobiographical song that chronicles his ascent from modest beginnings and offers a sneak peek into what lies ahead for him in 2024. The song arrives today alongside an Aimé Irabahaye-directed music video. This music video was created thanks to the generous support of the Moose Knuckles Heatmakers x Prism Prize Music Video Production Grant, a joint initiative of Moose Knuckles, and the Prism Prize (administered by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television).

The single follows the Spring release of his second EP WOIIYOIE TAPES VOL. 2: INTENSE CITY. Featuring previously released singles like “Fam Without Blood” and “Yuteman Denis,” the project is the culmination of Skii’s life experiences, prominently addressing the complex relationship between Black communities and law enforcement. The EP features renowned producers DJ Dahi (Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Pusha T) and Wondagurl (Travis Scott, Pop Smoke, Lil Uzi Vert), singer-songwriters Obongjayar and Charlotte Cardin, Skii’s longtime collaborator and producer YAMA//SATO, and mentor Master Zibz. Recorded between Montreal, Los Angeles, and London, the EP served as the follow-up to WOIIYOIE TAPES VOL. 1 (2021), in which Skiifall was dubbed by Exclaim! as the “best of what Canadian hip-hop has to offer.”
