The Hold Steady will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their landmark 2005 album Separation Sunday with a deluxe new edition, out December 5 on their Positive Jams label via Thirty Tigers. The expanded release pairs the original 11 tracks with nine newly remastered bonus songs—rare demos, outtakes, and selections from 2005’s The Virgin Digital Sessions—marking their first appearance on vinyl. The album will be available digitally, on 2xLP black vinyl, and in a limited gold-swirl edition. Pre-orders begin November 7 at noon ET via theholdsteadymerch.net and indie retailers.

Separation Sunday changed everything for The Hold Steady,” says frontman Craig Finn. “We found our sound and built the community that still surrounds us today.”

Hailed by Paste as one of the “250 Greatest Albums of the 21st Century So Far,” the album cemented The Hold Steady’s place among modern rock greats. To mark the occasion, the band will perform Separation Sunday in full during Massive Nights 2025: 10 Years of Killer Parties! at Brooklyn Bowl, December 3–6. Limited tickets remain for select nights at theholdsteady.net.
