K2 is already one of the most dangerous mountains on Earth. Now, Apple Original Films is taking viewers there in the dead of winter.
The trailer for The Last First: Winter K2 has arrived, previewing director Amir Bar-Lev’s gripping new documentary about the race to make mountaineering history.
The film follows Icelandic climber John Snorri Sigurjónsson and Pakistani father-and-son team Ali and Sajid Sadpara as they attempt to become the first climbers to summit K2 during winter—when the mountain is at its most brutal.
But this isn’t simply a story about reaching the top. As other climbers, influencers, film crews, commercial expeditions and international teams converge on the mountain, the expedition becomes a fascinating look at the changing culture of extreme climbing.
Money, power, class, ambition and the pursuit of fame all enter the picture, with the unforgiving conditions of K2 turning every decision into a matter of life and death.
Produced by Propagate Content, Object Studios and Ventureland, The Last First: Winter K2 promises an intense and surprisingly layered look at what happens when the pursuit of history collides with the modern climbing industry.
The Last First: Winter K2 premieres globally on Apple TV on October 2, 2026.
