Fairy tales get a hard-boiled makeover when The Wolf Among Us Remastered arrives on October 29, 2026. Telltale’s acclaimed detective adventure is getting a visual upgrade, bonus content, and a stylish new way to experience its dark mystery.
Based on Bill Willingham’s Fables comics, the game takes players to 1980s Manhattan, where fairy-tale characters live in secret among ordinary people. You play as Bigby Wolf, the former Big Bad Wolf turned sheriff of Fabletown, investigating a murder that threatens to expose a dangerous conspiracy.
Forget happy endings. This is a gritty crime thriller built around interrogations, crime-scene investigations, and difficult choices that shape relationships and determine how Fabletown’s residents see you.
What’s New in the Remaster?
The biggest addition is Noir Mode, letting players switch between the upgraded color presentation and classic black-and-white visuals inspired by vintage detective films.
The remaster also features improved lighting, more detailed characters, updated animation, enhanced audio, interface improvements, and accessibility updates. Five restored “Lost Scenes” offer a fresh look at content recovered from the original production, while an art gallery featuring more than 100 images and over an hour of developer interviews provides a deeper dive behind the scenes.
All five original episodes are included, delivering Bigby’s complete first investigation in one package.
When and Where Can You Play?
The Wolf Among Us Remastered is scheduled to launch October 29 for PlayStation 5, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and Xbox One. Xbox Series X|S players can access the game through backward compatibility. A Nintendo Switch version is also planned, but its release date remains unconfirmed.
For newcomers, this is an opportunity to experience one of Telltale’s standout narrative adventures with a refreshed presentation. Returning players can look forward to Noir Mode, visual upgrades, and archival extras.
Just don’t mistake it for a new chapter. This is Bigby Wolf’s original mystery getting a fresh coat of paint—not The Wolf Among Us 2.
