Towa Bird is showing a softer, more personal side with “Deep Blue,” a new standalone single released through Interscope Records. Following her recent Gentleman Tour, the singer, songwriter, and guitarist delivers a reflective track that trades some of her usual edge for something more intimate without losing its emotional punch.
Written by Bird alongside Patrick Wimberly and Donna Missal, and produced by Wimberly, “Deep Blue” is a deeply personal song about Bird’s sister, Cat, and the lasting bond they share. The accompanying music video, directed by Bird herself, offers a touching portrait of the sisters and their connection.
“Its about our bond, seeing each other through major life events and feeling emotionally tethered no matter the distance,” Bird explains.
Fans may already recognize the track from its live debut during the Gentleman Tour, where it quickly became a crowd favorite. Now available on streaming platforms, “Deep Blue” offers another glimpse into an artist continuing to explore new emotional territory.
The single follows Gentleman, Bird’s critically acclaimed second album, which reimagines the traditional gentleman archetype through a lens of queer confidence, romance, and individuality. The record builds on the alt-pop foundations of her 2024 debut, American Hero, pushing further into a distinctive mix of guitar-driven attitude and atmospheric songwriting.
With “Deep Blue,” Towa Bird proves that sometimes the most powerful moments come from turning down the volume and letting the personal stories take center stage.
