Tricky has shared “I’m Yours”, the latest single from his upcoming album Different When It’s Silent, arriving July 17 via False Idols.
The track pairs the Bristol icon with fellow Bristol vocalist Mitch Sanders, whose soaring, melodic delivery provides a striking contrast to Tricky’s signature hushed intensity. Set against distorted guitars, brooding electronics and a driving rhythm, “I’m Yours” thrives on the tension between light and darkness, adding another compelling chapter to the album’s evolving story.
It’s the latest preview of Different When It’s Silent, following the emotionally charged “Out Of Place” and the hypnotic “Because I Don’t Know”. Each release has showcased a different side of the record, hinting at an album that constantly shifts between raw vulnerability and shadowy experimentation.
The album marks Tricky’s 15th studio release and his first full-length record under his own name in six years, following Fall To Pieces. Recorded between France and his hometown of Bristol, it sees him reconnect with the fearless, genre-defying sound that first made waves on Maxinquaye.
Although Tricky has stayed busy with projects including Lonely Guest, Theis Thaws and Out The Way, he says the new material wasn’t originally intended as a solo album. It was manager Alan McGee who convinced him otherwise, declaring it “the best thing since Maxinquaye.”
