Tycho — the acclaimed project of San Francisco producer and musician Scott Hansen — has unveiled “Boundary Rider”, a stunning new collaboration with Paul Banks of Interpol.

A longtime admirer of Interpol, Hansen cites the band as a defining influence on his sound. On “Boundary Rider,” Tycho channels a post-rock sensibility, blending Banks’ haunting vocals with crisp percussion, swirling guitars, and fleeting synth textures.

“Interpol has long been one of my biggest influences, so I jumped at the opportunity to collaborate with Paul,” says Hansen. The track evolved from an instrumental demo titled “Forge.” When considering songs that might suit Banks’ voice, Hansen felt its atmosphere was the perfect fit.

Inspired by the lonely lives of Australian boundary riders in the 1930s, Hansen found parallels between their solitude and the introspective tone of Banks’ lyrics.

The single follows Tycho’s 2024 album Infinite Health, and arrives ahead of a November run of headline DJ shows and a special TYCHO:ISO50 performance at Art Basel Miami.

“Boundary Rider” is available now via Mom+Pop (US) and Ninja Tune (UK/ROW).
