Boutique media publisher Whole Grain Pictures, a division of MediaOCD, has acquired the home media rights to three acclaimed Asian live-action films, further expanding its growing catalog of international cinema.
Among the titles is director Zhang Yimou’s landmark debut feature, Red Sorghum (1987), a visually striking drama set in rural China during the 1930s. Celebrated for its bold cinematography and rich cultural storytelling, the film helped establish Zhang as one of the leading voices of Chinese cinema.

Also joining the lineup is Failan (2001), director Song Hae-sung’s poignant South Korean romantic melodrama. The film follows the heartbreaking relationship between a Chinese immigrant seeking residency through a sham marriage and an aging small-time gangster who unexpectedly finds emotional connection through her.

Rounding out the slate is Jeon Go-woon’s critically praised Microhabitat (2017), a quietly affecting South Korean drama centered on Mi-so, a young housekeeper who gives up her apartment after a rent increase in order to hold onto the few comforts she values most: cigarettes, whiskey, and her struggling artist boyfriend.
All three films are scheduled for Blu-ray release later this year.
