Channel37, a boutique Finnish developer, proudly announces the Early Access launch of its sci-fi survival-crafting game The Last Caretaker on Steam and the Epic Games Store. After four years in development—and ranking among the top 50 demos of the Autumn Steam Next Fest—the game now invites players to rebuild humanity after the flood.

In The Last Caretaker, you play as a reawakened machine tasked with nurturing the final human seeds in a world long drowned. As you scavenge, craft, and survive, you’ll uncover a story shaped by humanity’s past choices and your own. Every structure tells a tale, every resource demands a decision—and every success gives humankind another chance.

Channel37 co-founder Antti Ilvesuo shared, “We’re delighted to share our vision with players and are committed to the long-term future for The Last Caretaker. We wanted a world that feels like it could exist—survival that makes sense.”

Early Access begins today, with regular updates planned including new vehicles, expanded lore, and world-building features. A free demo remains available on Steam for those eager to explore.

Featuring modular crafting, resource-based combat, and a hauntingly immersive world, The Last Caretaker is a thoughtful reimagining of the survival genre—one that asks: what does it truly mean to be human?
