Paramount+ is kicking off 2026 with Coldwater, a tense new psychological thriller set to premiere Friday, January 9, exclusively on the Paramount+ Premium plan. The six-episode series will release weekly, leading up to its finale on February 13, 2026.
Starring Andrew Lincoln, Coldwater is created and written by David Ireland and centers on John, a stay-at-home father grappling with a profound identity crisis. After failing to intervene during a violent incident at a London playground, John uproots his family and relocates them to the isolated Scottish town of Coldwater, hoping for a fresh start.
Instead, the move introduces new uncertainties. John quickly forms a bond with his neighbor Tommy, played by Ewen Bremner, a charismatic and seemingly trusted figure in the local community. But as strange and unsettling events begin to unfold, John is forced to question Tommy’s true nature—and whether Coldwater is as peaceful as it first appeared.
Directed by Lee Haven-Jones and Andrew Cumming, the series also stars Indira Varma and Eve Myles. With its slow-burn tension and eerie rural setting, Coldwater promises a chilling exploration of guilt, trust, and the stories people tell to survive.
