Capcom just gave us a massive look at Resident Evil 9: Requiem during the latest NVIDIA GeForce event, and it’s safe to say the series is pushing technical boundaries. Showcased on the upcoming RTX 50 Series GPUs, the gameplay footage highlights a move toward true photorealism with some serious hardware backing.
Gameplay & Story
This entry marks a return to Raccoon City’s ruins, following dual protagonists: fan-favorite Leon Kennedy and newcomer Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst looking for answers regarding her mother’s death.
- Hybrid Perspectives: Players can seamlessly switch between first- and third-person modes.
- Enhanced Mechanics: Expect smarter “stalker” AI, tighter gunplay, and heavy resource management.
- Visual Polish: Built on the RE Engine (with some Unreal Engine 5 integrations), the game features volumetric smoke and some of the most grotesque creature designs we’ve seen yet.
The Tech Breakdown
NVIDIA used Requiem to flex its new DLSS 4.5 capabilities. By leveraging 6X Multi Frame Generation, the demo achieved a locked 4K at 240FPS—even with full path tracing enabled. Essentially, the AI is generating five frames for every one rendered, keeping the action buttery smooth with incredibly low latency.
Launch Timeline
While we’ve been seeing breadcrumbs since the 2025 Tokyo Game Show, we finally have a concrete target. Resident Evil 9: Requiem is slated to launch on February 27, 2027.
Between the 007 First Light clips and the broader expansion of DLSS 4 support to over 250 titles, NVIDIA is clearly positioning this game as the gold standard for next-gen performance.
