What’s more terrifying than a looming deadline? In I Know Exactly How You Die, it’s discovering that your writing can kill. Filmmaker Rushabh Patel brings blood, laughs, and meta mayhem in this horror comedy set to make its World Premiere at Dances With Films NYC.
Screening January 17, 2026 at the Regal Union Square, I Know Exactly How You Die introduces audiences to Rian Burman (played by Patel), a struggling horror novelist battling heartbreak and creative paralysis. Desperate to finish his book, Rian retreats to a remote motel, where he begins writing about Katie, a drug counselor on the run from a violent stalker.
There’s just one problem: the story doesn’t stay on the page.
As Rian writes, his fictional scenes begin manifesting in real life. At the same motel, the real Katie is hiding from a deranged ex–mailman turned serial killer, and when she crosses paths with Rian, the impossible becomes undeniable. His manuscript is somehow dictating reality—and the body count is rising fast.
Blending sharp comedy with escalating horror, I Know Exactly How You Die asks a chilling question: what happens when a writer becomes both the author and the architect of terror? Audiences will find out when the carnage and comedy collide this January.
