Carrie White’s story is far from over. Prime Video has renewed Carrie for a second season following a strong debut that reportedly sent the series to No. 1 on the platform in more than 105 countries.

The new adaptation of Stephen King’s classic horror story premiered October 7, with all eight episodes of Season 1 now streaming on Prime Video. The Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan returns as showrunner and executive producer, with King also back as executive producer.

Starring Summer H. Howell as Carrie White and Samantha Sloyan as her fiercely protective mother, Margaret, the series gives the familiar story a modern twist. Alongside the horrors of high school, Carrie faces online bullying, social-media pressure, and the frightening awakening of her telekinetic abilities.

But don’t expect the story to end with prom night. Flanagan says the creative team always envisioned a story that goes beyond the events audiences already know, promising new revelations, major character developments, and plenty of twists in Season 2.

“I can’t wait for audiences to get to see what’s down the road for Carrie White,” King said, teasing what’s ahead.

The series also features a familiar face for horror fans: Matthew Lillard, alongside several of Flanagan’s longtime collaborators, including Kate Siegel and Rahul Kohli.

The renewal arrives at a fitting time for King’s iconic story. His debut novel was published in 1974, and Brian De Palma’s celebrated film adaptation followed in 1976. With the film approaching its 50th anniversary on November 3, 2026, Carrie White remains a horror icon with plenty of life left in her story.

For now, newcomers and longtime King fans can catch up on all eight episodes of Carrie Season 1 exclusively on Prime Video. Season 2 details, including a release date, have yet to be announced.
