A new animated fantasy is set to cast its spell on audiences this summer. I Am Frankelda arrives in select U.S. theaters and on Netflix on June 12, 2026, bringing a visually rich adventure inspired by 19th-century Mexico.
The film follows Frankelda, a gifted writer whose dark and imaginative stories are constantly dismissed by those around her. Refusing to let her voice be silenced, she finds herself pulled into her own subconscious, where the monsters of her creation have come to life.
Joined by Herneval, a troubled prince caught between dreams and nightmares, Frankelda must restore balance between fiction and reality before both worlds unravel. Standing in her way is the sinister writer Procustes, whose dangerous ambitions threaten to consume everything she holds dear.
As Frankelda fights to rewrite her destiny, she discovers that the stories we tell can be just as powerful—and terrifying—as the worlds they create.
