HBO has dropped a teaser for its upcoming limited sketch comedy series Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness, and the premise is as delightfully chaotic as it sounds.
The seven-episode series premieres June 26 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO, with new episodes rolling out weekly through the August 7 finale. The show is executive produced by Larry David, Jeff Schaffer, and the Obamas’ Higher Ground production company.
According to the official logline, President and Mrs. Obama set out to honor America’s 250th anniversary and celebrate the nation’s unique history. Then, as HBO puts it: “Larry David called.”
That simple setup appears to be the perfect recipe for comedy, bringing together the former president and the creator of Curb Your Enthusiasm for a satirical take on American history and culture. Alongside David, the series will feature select Curb Your Enthusiasm cast members and a lineup of notable guest stars.
If the teaser is any indication, HBO may have one of the summer’s most talked-about comedy events on its hands.
