It’s happening. It’s really happening.
DreamWorks Animation has officially dropped the first teaser for Shrek 5, giving fans their first glimpse at the long-awaited return of everyone’s favorite swamp-dwelling ogre.
Set to hit theaters in summer 2027, the new animated comedy adventure reunites the franchise’s iconic trio: Mike Myers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, and Cameron Diaz as Fiona. Joining them is Emmy-winning superstar Zendaya, who voices Felicia, the daughter of Shrek and Fiona. New cast members Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo will play her brothers, Fergus and Farkle.
Behind the camera, Shrek veterans Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn return to lead the next chapter, alongside co-director Brad Ableson. The film is produced by Gina Shay and Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
The Shrek franchise remains one of animation’s biggest success stories, with four films earning more than $2.9 billion worldwide and cementing the lovable ogre and his fairy-tale friends as pop culture icons.
After years of speculation, the swamp is officially reopening. Fans can watch and share the teaser now—and start counting down to summer 2027.
