Backrooms, the studio’s highest-grossing film domestically and worldwide, will make its exclusive U.S. streaming debut on HBO Max Friday, September 25. It will then hit HBO’s linear channel Saturday, September 26, at 8 p.m. ET.
Directed by Kane Parsons and based on his popular series, Backrooms stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve, Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, and Lukita Maxwell.
The setup is pure nightmare fuel: a mysterious doorway appears in the basement of a furniture showroom, opening into an endless maze of interconnected rooms where time doesn’t behave normally—and something may be lurking just out of sight.
The film is written by Will Soodik and produced by James Wan, Michael Clear, Roberto Patino, Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, Dan Levine, Osgood Perkins, Chris Ferguson, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Kori Adelson, with Parsons, Jesse Savath, Judson Scott, and Chris White serving as executive producers.
