Starting over is hard at any age—but at 50, it comes with a few extra complications.
HBO’s new original comedy YOUTH, created by and starring Sharon Horgan, follows Alex, a 50-year-old divorcee on a quest for sex, love, and maybe a little breathing room. The catch? She’s also juggling her aging parents and a son who, technically, should be old enough to look after himself.
Horgan leads the cast as Alex, alongside Rupert Friend, Sharlene Whyte, Aran Murphy, and Robbie Gee. Expect plenty of sharp humor, awkward dating moments, family chaos, and the kind of brutally honest observations Horgan does so well.
Produced by Merman (Amandaland, Bad Sisters, Vladimir), the eight-episode series has Horgan writing, starring, and executive producing. Faye Dorn, Jim Kleverweis, and director Dawn Shadforth also executive produce.
YOUTH premieres Sunday, September 20 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and HBO Max, with the first two episodes dropping that night. New episodes arrive weekly on Sundays, leading up to the season finale on November 1.
Because apparently, finding yourself at 50 is easier when everything else in your life is falling apart at the same time.
