Get ready for a blazing new single as Harlem’s rising star Sugarhill Ddot teams up with Tallahassee’s own Luh Tyler for “3AM In the Yams,” dropping July 28th via Priority Records. This New York meets Florida summer anthem moves at a rapid drill pace, transforming Miami’s usual laid-back party vibe into a setting for nonstop energy and celebration.
Produced by Ndup and Ayyolucas, the song was born during Ddot’s trip to Miami when he was asked by Drake to model for his Nocta line. It was there that he connected with Luh Tyler, recorded the track, and got inspired for the vibrant, pastel-colored video directed by Rari Digital and Gerard Victor (known for their work with Yo Gotti, Lil Baby, and 42 Dugg). The video captures the teenage duo shopping for kicks, gaming, and throwing a pool party, all while paying homage to the 2010 Nicki Minaj and Drake classic “Moment 4 Life.”
Ddot shares the story behind the song: “‘3AM In The Yams’ is about my first time in Miami, where the nightlife left a lasting impression. It’s where I bumped into Drake at the bowling alley after he invited me to join. He believes in me, and when I say ‘It was real when I bumped into Drake’ in the song, I truly mean it. Luh Tyler was the perfect fit for the track, his energy matched the vibe perfectly. He’s a genuine person, and we had a blast filming the video game scene in the video.”
In a short time, Ddot has emerged as an undeniable talent in hip-hop. Starting at just 13 years old and making waves in New York’s drill scene, he quickly gained national attention. His self-released tracks like “I Wanna Love You,” “Dream,” and “The Real Purge” have already accumulated over 10 million views on YouTube combined. His April release “Let Ha Go” is also gaining massive traction, nearing 7 million views and still going strong—much like Ddot himself. Keep an eye out for his upcoming album “Come Around And Love Me,” set to drop on September 22nd.
