Good news for fans of creepy mysteries and quirky island chaos: Apple TV has officially renewed Widow’s Bay for a second season.

The announcement arrives just days before the highly anticipated season one finale, which premieres June 17. Led by Emmy winner Matthew Rhys, the genre-bending series has quickly become one of the breakout streaming hits of the year, earning rave reviews and a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Apple’s head of programming, Matt Cherniss, said audiences have been hooked by the show’s mix of eerie mysteries, unexpected laughs and cursed secrets, calling it “one of those shows everyone’s talking about.”

Creator, showrunner and executive producer Katie Dippold celebrated the renewal with a tongue-in-cheek tease: “Season two is about how everything is great on the island and there’s nothing to worry about.”

Sure, Katie.

Set on a remote island where old legends refuse to stay buried, Widow’s Bay follows Mayor Tom Loftis (Rhys) as he tries to turn his struggling community into a tourist hotspot—despite persistent rumors that the island is cursed. As visitors finally begin arriving, the stories everyone dismissed as folklore start becoming alarmingly real.

Alongside the renewal, Apple also announced a new multiyear overall deal with Dippold, signaling strong confidence in the creator behind one of the platform’s most talked-about new series.

As for Mayor Loftis? He insists Widow’s Bay remains perfectly safe and open to visitors. Whether anyone should believe him is another matter entirely.
