Warhammer Age of Sigmar takes to the skies in Arkanaut, a new animated adventure featuring hard-luck duardin, heavily armed airships, and a dangerous search for fortune.

The first episode, “Cursed Skies,” premiered October 16 on Warhammer TV, introducing fans to a side of the Mortal Realms that hasn’t received this kind of animated spotlight before. The three-part series comes from the team behind Sigmar’s Toll and puts the spotlight on the Kharadron Overlords, the skyfaring duardin who combine dwarven ingenuity with a distinctly business-minded approach to survival.

Meet the Crew of the Therodoson

At the center of the story is the Therodoson, an Arkanaut Frigate from the sky-port of Barak-Zilfin. Its crew is down on its luck, and a dangerous expedition offers the chance to secure a prize of incredible value. The catch? Getting there means braving hostile forces and turbulent skies.

Leading the voyage is Captain Orra, an enterprising commander trying to turn the mission into a success. At her side is Frodrikk, the crew’s grizzled navigator, helping guide the ship through the dangers ahead.

The Therodoson itself deserves a mention. Games Workshop describes the vessel as much more than transportation: it’s the crew’s home, fortress, and source of firepower. Unfortunately, this once-proud frigate is badly overdue for repairs. For fans who enjoy the nuts and bolts of Warhammer’s fictional machines, the ship’s custom details and lived-in appearance are a big part of the appeal.

Why Warhammer Fans Should Pay Attention

One of the biggest draws is seeing the Kharadron Overlords brought to life in 3D animation for the first time, complete with their cannon-equipped skyvessels.

For tabletop players, the series offers a closer look at the faction’s distinctive technology, ship design, and culture. The Kharadron aren’t conventional fantasy dwarfs content to stay underground. They’re entrepreneurial explorers who use technology, trade, and firepower to make their way through a dangerous world.

The setting is also worth clarifying for newcomers: Arkanaut belongs to Warhammer Age of Sigmar, the fantasy universe of the Mortal Realms, rather than the far-future science-fiction setting of Warhammer 40,000.

And while the Kharadron are the main attraction, other factions are expected to appear as the story unfolds, leaving room for more of the wider Age of Sigmar universe.

What’s Next?

Arkanaut is a three-episode series, with new installments arriving weekly throughout October.

Whether you’re a longtime Age of Sigmar player or simply curious about Warhammer animation, Arkanaut offers a fresh perspective on the Mortal Realms.
