MoonKill embodies the essence of untethered Texas Punk, infusing ambient spacey sounds and new-wave tension into a genre that defies categorization. Fronted by vocalist Dan Aronov, whose dynamic vocal range evokes echoes of a young Glenn Danzig, the band delivers a tight and infectious blend of melodic, metallic punk rock. Throughout their debut album, MoonKill masterfully wields simplicity to create a profound impact on listeners.

Originating from an impromptu jam session at a T-shirt factory turned after-hours practice space in Austin, TX, MoonKill’s formation was serendipitous. The quartet’s drummer served as the linchpin, bringing together a network of friends that included a guitarist living in a trailer in his driveway. Their inaugural session yielded the creation of their debut song, “Long Line to Hell,” igniting a creative spark that fueled the development of their Texas Punk repertoire.

Taking matters into their own hands, the band self-produced a three-song EP, The Kong Sessions, within the confines of their friend’s screen-printing shop loft. Impressed by their work, producer/engineer Roky Moon (known for his work with American Sharks) took MoonKill under his wing, guiding them through the production of their debut album, which culminated in its completion in February 2024. Their inaugural live performance in September 2023 drew a packed audience, marking the beginning of an intense schedule of live shows for the burgeoning band.

Now others have also taken notice, including their growing fan base in and around Austin. Their EP gained notice from music critics, including Greg Kot, (Chicago Tribune) who featured “Dead Holiday” on his syndicated show, Sound Opinions.

MoonKill will be available to stream & download on May 3rd. Pre-order/pre-save link here.
