Infinity Ward is taking another shot at extraction shooters — and this time, it’s going all in.

Launching alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on October 23, the new DMZ mode drops players into the sprawling Hajin Exclusion Zone, a living battlefield where no two deployments play out the same way.

Built around high-stakes extraction gameplay, DMZ blends story-driven missions, dynamic side objectives, looting, crafting, and a player-driven Bounty system into one persistent experience. Whether you’re tracking down high-value targets, scavenging for rare gear, or racing to extract before enemy forces overwhelm the area, every decision matters.

Set in the aftermath of the Modern Warfare 4 campaign, Hajin is designed as an evolving combat zone shaped by rival Operators, changing weather, escalating threats, and unpredictable encounters. Players can deploy solo or squad up, choosing how deep they want to push into danger in search of greater rewards.

After years of refining ideas from the original DMZ Beta, Infinity Ward says this is its most ambitious extraction experience yet — one built around meaningful progression, player choice, and long-term replayability.

If first impressions are anything to go by, DMZ could become one of Modern Warfare 4’s biggest attractions when the game arrives this fall.
