Big news for strategy fans on the go — Aspyr has announced a major update for Sid Meier’s Civilization® VI on Android, set to launch June 12, 2025. This update finally brings Android in line with all other platforms, delivering the full Civilization VI experience in the palm of your hand.
At the heart of this update are a host of features previously unavailable on Android. Players can now command three powerful new units: the Trebuchet, Man-At-Arms, and Line Infantry, each upgrading the combat lineup across eras. Four new maps will also debut, including a Large Mediterranean and Huge Earth map, both with accurate terrain and resource placement. Each map includes variants that start your civilization at its real-world historical capital.
Aspyr is also adding two new game modes:
- Tech and Civic Shuffle Mode, which mixes up the tech tree within eras for fresh replayability.
- Barbarian Clans Mode, replacing traditional barbarians with evolving clans that can turn into City-States.
Players will also get new customization options like the Natural Wonder Picker, City-State Picker, and Leader Selection Pool, allowing for more curated and strategic gameplay. Julius Caesar joins the leader roster, and over 50 bug fixes and multiplayer enhancements round out the core improvements.
But that’s not all — June 12 also marks the Android debut of two major expansions.
- The New Frontier Pass ($29.99) adds eight civilizations, nine leaders, six new game modes, and more.
- The Leader Pass ($19.99) offers 12 new leaders and six alternate takes on classic Civ leaders.
