Ready to drop in? Call of Duty’s DMZ extraction mode is arriving early for digital preorder players, giving them three days to gear up before Modern Warfare 4 officially launches.
Released October 9, the new 97-second gameplay trailer offers a quick look at the high-risk action waiting in DMZ. The mission sounds simple enough: drop in, collect resources, hunt bounties, and make it out alive. Of course, other players have the same idea—and you could become their next target.
Loot, Hunt, Survive, Repeat
DMZ puts players in an open-world battlefield filled with human opponents and AI enemies. But winning a fight is only part of the job. Players must gather supplies and bring them back to their Forward Operating Base (FOB), where those resources help prepare them for future deployments.
The trailer puts two major features front and center: bounties and base building. Hunt down other players for rewards, but don’t get too comfortable. Someone else might be hunting you. Meanwhile, every successful extraction can help build toward bigger challenges and potentially better rewards.
When Can You Deploy?
The rollout for Modern Warfare 4 gives players several dates to mark on their calendars:
- October 16: Campaign early access
- October 20: DMZ early access
- October 23: Full game launch, including core multiplayer
Players who digitally preorder the Standard Digital Edition or Vault Edition can access DMZ three days before launch. The offer covers Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. Physical editions don’t qualify for this digital-preorder bonus.
According to the announcement, eligible players will get access to all of DMZ, rather than a limited preview.
The Extraction Begins Soon
The new trailer keeps things focused on what makes DMZ tick: taking risks, collecting valuable resources, and making it home in one piece. With bounties adding a hunt-or-be-hunted twist and the FOB giving every run a longer-term purpose, there’s more at stake than simply surviving a firefight.
Digital preorder players can start their deployments on October 20. Everyone else can join the action when Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23.
Pack your gear. Watch your back. And whatever you do, don’t forget to extract.
