Swedish multidisciplinary artist Ecco2k (Zak Arogundade) continues his return to solo music with “Sky Burial,” a new single and accompanying music video produced by longtime collaborator Whitearmor. Following last week’s release of “Aldehydes and Ketones,” the new track takes a warmer, more euphoric direction, offering another glimpse into the artist’s evolving creative world.
Where “Aldehydes and Ketones,” produced by Gud, leaned into cold, shimmering industrial textures, “Sky Burial” moves toward soaring melodies and pop-driven energy. The contrast between the two releases creates an intriguing introduction to what could be a new chapter in Ecco2k’s solo work.
The accompanying film, titled Echo, follows its protagonist dancing in tall grass beneath a solar eclipse. An intense orange glow initially resembles a sunset, but the light comes from an industrial source, creating an unusual tension between the natural landscape and the manufactured world surrounding it.
The video also continues the visual themes established in “Aldehydes and Ketones,” while offering a more intimate perspective on the relationship between nature, technology, and the individual. Both films are part of an ambitious visual project shot across twelve countries over six years of continuous travel, reflecting Arogundade’s broader multidisciplinary practice.
With “Sky Burial” and “Aldehydes and Ketones,” Ecco2k signals a return to solo releases after nearly five years, while continuing to push beyond the sound and aesthetic that first established his reputation.
