Gray Zone Warfare is gearing up for a major expansion of its tactical sandbox. The Rogue Ops update arrives October 22, bringing new locations, crafting, a revamped Hideout system, and a major step forward in the game’s development.

The update marks Gray Zone Warfare’s move into the Alpha stage, with plenty of changes shaped by player feedback. One of the most requested features is finally on the way: players will be able to create multiple playable characters.

Rogue Ops also adds three new locations to explore — the Radio Observatory, Asylum, and Military Research Site. Each brings new tactical challenges, story details, and opportunities to hunt for valuable loot.

But the biggest change may be happening back at your Hideout.

The new Hideout and crafting system introduces another layer of progression. Players can produce chemical substances and narcotics for medical use or the black market, while researching technologies such as hacking tools that can open previously inaccessible areas. In other words, there’s now more to do between those dangerous trips into Lamang.

There’s also some good news for longtime players. Rogue Ops will be the first major update to preserve existing progression during a soft wipe. In-game currency and equipment will reset, but player progression will remain intact.

And if you’ve been waiting to jump into Gray Zone Warfare, the timing isn’t bad. From October 1 through October 8, all editions will be 33% off during the Steam Autumn Sale.

MADFINGER Games will also roll out a three-part developer diary series over the three weeks leading up to launch, revealing more about what’s coming.

Rogue Ops launches October 22. Lamang is getting bigger — and considerably more complicated.
