Mothica is turning up the intensity with “My Confession,” a powerful new single released through SharpTone Records, accompanied by a cinematic fantasy music video directed by Micah Hamilton.
The latest release finds the LA-based singer, performer, and visual artist McKenzie Ellis pushing further into the heavy, aggressive sound she’s been exploring. Following her acclaimed Somewhere In Between EP, “My Confession” takes a deeply personal approach, moving through themes of relationships, addiction, anger, and the familiar comfort of holding onto pain.
Ellis describes the track as a stream-of-consciousness writing experience, with lyrics that shift between perspectives before finding their focus in a central idea: sometimes suffering feels easier than letting go.
The new single adds another chapter to an increasingly busy year for Mothica. Her Somewhere In Between EP earned praise from Kerrang!, Knotfest, Hit Parader, CBC Music, and others. She also released a remix with HEALTH and followed up with Somewhere In Between (mothicorp’s lofi breakroom beats), reimagining all five tracks in a completely different sonic direction.
Mothica will next join Of Mice & Men for upcoming California shows in Santa Ana and San Diego before heading to the UK and Europe for a tour in early 2027.
