Portland’s Belonging have shared a new video for “The Dog,” the title track from their forthcoming split LP The Dog with hometown compatriots Inny.

Emerging from the DIY circuits of the Upper Midwest and later absorbing the heavier, experimental currents of the Pacific Northwest, Belonging craft a sound that merges punk and screamo urgency with the hypnotic weight of sludge, psych, and grunge.

Vocalist/guitarist Bryce August explains: “All three of the songs on this split were written around what happens when all-consuming emotion—passion, obsession, despair—runs into something protean, elemental, and immovable like the sea. ‘The Dog’ in particular is about love, loss, and how we go on living, keeping our promises to the dead.”

Belonging’s side of the LP balances tension and release, building emotionally charged, cathartic songs that linger with memorable melodies and verses made to shout along.

Inny, by contrast, delivers sharp, tightly wound tracks driven by rhythm and friction. Their three songs strike with lean, urgent energy—raw, bracing, and unflinching.

Together, The Dog pairs two complementary visions of intensity: one drawn from emotional gravity, the other from sheer kinetic force.
