Focus Entertainment and Asobo Studio have dropped a new gameplay trailer for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, offering the most detailed look yet at the series’ bold new direction ahead of its August 27 launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
And yes—this time, survival is going to hurt.
A darker, more aggressive evolution of the series
Where A Plague Tale once leaned heavily on stealth and evasion, Resonance pushes into far more brutal territory. Players step into the role of Sophia, a young fighter forced to survive through precision, aggression, and fast decisions when stealth fails.
Combat is no longer a last resort—it’s a core language of survival. The trailer highlights tight, responsive melee systems built around parries, rapid combo chains, and aggressive positioning. Sophia’s dagger and sword aren’t just tools—they’re extensions of momentum.
Even the environment becomes part of the fight. A versatile grappling hook lets players yank enemies off balance, close gaps instantly, or throw foes into deadly hazards, turning arenas into improvised traps.
Light, puzzles, and ancient design
Outside of combat, exploration leans into intricate environmental puzzles built around light manipulation. These sequences aren’t filler—they gate progression across the mysterious island and deepen the game’s layered worldbuilding.
Solving them is essential to uncovering what really lies beneath the island’s surface.
A story split across time itself
The narrative twist is where things get truly strange.
As Sophia ventures deeper into the Minotaur’s Island, she begins experiencing vivid flashbacks to the Minoan era. There, she becomes linked to the legendary hero Theseus—suggesting a mysterious resonance bridging two timelines separated by over 2,000 years.
As both identities unfold, players will navigate parallel trials, shifting between eras where new allies appear, enemies evolve, and something far more ancient begins to stir in the shadows.
Launch details

A familiar world, rewritten with sharper blades, darker myths, and a heavier cost for survival.
