Dungeon delvers, grab your brushes! The Army Painter has teamed up directly with Dungeons & Dragons for Forgotten Pigments, a new miniature-paint collection announced at SPIEL Essen and slated to arrive in 2027.
But this collaboration is about more than adding new colors to the hobby desk. Alongside the paints comes the D&D Paint Academy, an educational initiative designed to help players of all skill levels turn unpainted miniatures into tabletop showstoppers.
From First Brushstroke to Fantasy Masterpiece
Forgotten Pigments will feature colors inspired by D&D’s worlds, characters, monsters, and adventures. The full lineup remains under wraps, but themed paints, sets, and accessories are also part of the announcement.
The Paint Academy might be the real game-changer for beginners. Its planned tutorials will guide players through painting their heroes and creatures, making the hobby feel less intimidating for anyone who’s ever stared at a tiny miniature and wondered where to start.
A Familiar Name, A New Chapter
This isn’t the first time The Army Painter has ventured into the Forgotten Realms. The company previously produced the official Nolzur’s Marvelous Pigments range under a sublicensing arrangement with Gale Force Nine.
This time, it’s partnering directly with Wizards of the Coast, marking a new chapter for the two brands. Whether Forgotten Pigments will replace the earlier range, however, remains unconfirmed.
The Adventure Begins in 2027
There’s still plenty left to reveal, including pricing, launch dates, color counts, and the exact contents of each set. The companies also haven’t confirmed whether the paints will use a new formulation.
For now, the mission is simple: make miniature painting more accessible and help D&D fans bring a little more life—and color—to their campaigns.
Want to get a head start? The Army Painter is inviting fans to sign up for updates on Forgotten Pigments, the Paint Academy, and upcoming color reveals.
Your next great adventure might just begin with a paintbrush.
