Spirit Halloween—the undisputed heavyweight champion of spooky season—has released its officially unofficial 2026 costume trend report, giving us a glimpse at the looks expected to dominate Halloween this year.
And if Spirit is right, your social feeds are about to get very, very spooky.
The retailer has spent the year tracking everything from blockbuster movies and video games to internet rabbit holes, nostalgia, social media obsessions and whatever people are suddenly talking about at 2 a.m. The result is a forecast of the characters, ideas and cultural moments poised to become Halloween costumes.
Because while October 31 is the big night, Spirit Halloween apparently treats Halloween as a 365-day research project.
“People often ask how we predict Halloween trends,” said Kym Sarkos, Executive Vice President of Spirit Halloween. “The reality is we’re watching them develop all year long.”
