Buzzy alt-rock trio Temper City are back with “Reverse Psychology,” a propulsive new single out today via Thirty Knots/Interscope Records.
For “Reverse Psychology,” singer-songwriter Eytan Peled and production duo Sync—Aviv Barenholtz and Chen Kordova—team up with Jesse Fink and Kevin White for a song that digs into the messy psychology of relationships. Built around a funky bass line, enveloping synths and a soaring chorus, the track gives Temper City’s nostalgic alt-rock sound a fresh, danceable jolt.
“Music has always been a form of therapy,” the band says. “We aren’t just writing about ‘love.’ We’re writing about the mental gymnastics you go through when things get complicated.”
That instinct comes naturally to the Los Angeles-based trio, who spent five years behind the scenes writing and producing for artists across electronic, blues and rock. Along the way, they helped create songs that amassed hundreds of millions of streams—and developed a creative shorthand that ultimately shaped Temper City’s own sound.
“We developed this creative shorthand without even realizing it,” the group says. “That’s how we stumbled into the Temper City sound without planning it.”
Next up, Temper City will bring “Reverse Psychology” to the stage at Austin City Limits Festival on October 3 and 10, followed by M3F Festival in Phoenix on March 5, 2027.
