Indie-pop duo Tennis has unveiled their latest single, “12 Blown Tires,” a poignant track that encapsulates both the chaos and beauty of life on the road — and marks a turning point in their career. The song is the latest preview from their upcoming seventh and final studio album, Face Down In The Garden, due out April 25 via their own label, Mutually Detrimental.

Written during a moment of touring turmoil — four flat tires on a highway in the middle of nowhere — the track blends personal memory with metaphor. “It’s a constellation of memories from the road, and of our marriage,” says vocalist Alaina Moore, who created the album alongside husband and bandmate Patrick Riley in their Denver home studio.

Face Down In The Garden will be Tennis’ last album in their current form. After over a decade of creating music together, the duo says they’ve said all they set out to say. “It felt like the end of something,” Moore reflects. “We are ready to pursue other creative projects and make space for new things.”

Tennis will embark on a farewell North American tour beginning May 16, including stops at iconic venues like New York’s Pier 17 and L.A.’s Greek Theatre. They’ll also release a companion EP, Neutral Poetry: First Recordings, Unreleased Demos 2009–2010, on May 16.

With shimmering melodies and deeply personal lyrics, Face Down In The Garden promises to be a fitting close to Tennis’ extraordinary chapter — an album best heard loud and in headphones, as Moore suggests, “off the map, yet entirely at home.”
