The journey across 13th-century Mongolia just got a whole lot bigger. The Legend of Khiimori has released its Mongolian Expanse Update, bringing new regions, dangerous wildlife, another horse breed, and more ways to develop your trusted companion.

Available now in Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store, the update pushes beyond the game’s original map, opening up two new environments: the Snowy Mountains and the Desert. Players can explore fresh routes, discover new waystations, Yam nodes, hidden chests, and bandit caches while keeping an eye out for some potentially dangerous wildlife.

Speaking of wildlife, wild boars, Gobi bears, and camels have joined the landscape. Some encounters offer opportunities for hunting, while others might make players think twice about wandering too far from safety.

Horse enthusiasts also have something new to look forward to. The update introduces the Marwari, a tough and agile breed known for handling challenging climates, bringing the game’s total to six horse breeds.

Perhaps the biggest addition is more than 60 new horse skills. Players can track down rare and Legendary abilities in specific regions and breeds, then pass those traits along through selective breeding to develop their ideal riding companion.

And this is only the beginning. Mindscape and developer Aesir Interactive say the Mongolian Expanse is just the first part of a larger expansion, with even more territory planned for a future update.

For players already exploring Mongolia, there’s plenty of new ground to cover. For newcomers, it’s another good reason to saddle up.

The Legend of Khiimori is available now in Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Console players can also wishlist the game on Xbox and PlayStation.
