Toro y Moi’s Chaz Bear isn’t here to blend in. The South Carolina-born, Bay Area-based artist dropped a new visual for “Walking In The Rain,” the opening track on his genre-bending album Hole Erth. Directed by his longtime creative partner Harry Israelson, the video is a visual feast that pulls you into Bear’s latest sonic journey, with a little help from designer Salehe Bembury, who makes a cameo as a news anchor. Presented in collaboration with Crocs, the video also features Bear rocking the latest Bembury-designed Crocs Pollex Cypress Boot, pushing the boundary between music, fashion, and art.

“Walking In The Rain” is already a fan-favorite from Hole Erth, a record that marks Bear’s deepest dive yet into hip-hop and punk—genres he grew up with but had never fully explored through the Toro y Moi lens. The song itself made its debut just before the album dropped with a special session on the hip-hop platform On The Radar, setting the stage for an album that’s both nostalgic and fresh.

This video release comes hot off Bear’s biggest Bay Area show yet, where he took the stage at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley alongside Aminé, marking a career milestone. And the momentum doesn’t stop there—Bear has also announced a 2025 headline tour that will have him crisscrossing North America with special guest Panda Bear, kicking off in February.

Hole Erth isn’t just another Toro y Moi album; it’s a full creative reinvention, one where Bear seamlessly mixes rap-rock, Soundcloud rap, and the early-2000s emo sound for an unexpected, punchy cocktail of genre-mashing brilliance. This album packs Toro y Moi’s highest-ever feature count, enlisting friends and collaborators like Kevin Abstract, Benjamin Gibbard, Don Toliver, Porches, and Kenny Mason. Each feature adds a new dimension to the album, recorded in just a few months but delivering an outsized impact.

For Toro y Moi, Hole Erth represents a natural evolution, a bridge between Bear’s experimental roots and his love of hip-hop. It’s an album with no single genre to call home—just Toro y Moi’s unmistakable sound pushing boundaries yet again, all while nodding back to where he started.
